Andicuri is a remote, strikingly beautiful bay on Aruba's wild northeast (windward) coast, reached by rough tracks through the island's rugged interior. A wide crescent of golden sand is hemmed by rocky cliffs and battered by Atlantic surf, a raw and scenic spot that draws photographers, adventurers and experienced bodyboarders rather than sunbathers.

Like the rest of the windward coast, Andicuri is exposed to strong trade winds, powerful waves and dangerous currents, so it is not a safe swimming beach. Confident bodyboarders and surfers sometimes ride the breaks here, but most visitors come for the dramatic landscape, the sea spray against the cliffs and the sense of wild isolation. Until it collapsed, Aruba's famous Natural Bridge stood just up the coast from here.

Important to know

  • Swimming is not safe: strong surf, current and undertow make the water dangerous.
  • Access is over rough tracks; a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended.
  • There are no facilities, shade or lifeguards, so bring everything you need.
  • Come for the scenery, photography and the wild windward coast.

Andicuri sits on the windward coast in the Santa Cruz interior near the Natural Bridge and the wild bays of Dos Playa. A guided jeep safari or ATV tour is the easiest way to reach this rugged coastline.
