Aruba's iconic divi-divi beach
Eagle Beach is the beach most people picture when they imagine Aruba: a broad, brilliant-white ribbon of soft sand backed by sea-grape bushes and the island's famous wind-bent divi-divi trees. Regularly ranked among the best beaches in the world, it is wider and far less built-up than the high-rise strip to the north, with low-rise hotels set back from the sand and plenty of open space to spread out.
The water is calm, warm and shallow for a long way out, shading from clear aqua near the shore to deep turquoise further out. Constant trade winds keep the air comfortable even at midday, and the gentle entry makes it ideal for families, swimmers and anyone who just wants to float. The two leaning divi-divi trees near the middle of the beach are the most photographed spot on Eagle Beach, framing the classic Aruba sunset shot.
Eagle Beach sits just south of the resort strip, an easy hop from Palm Beach and the quieter, low-key Manchebo Beach and Druif Beach next door. A sunset catamaran cruise is a popular way to end an Eagle Beach day. Come early for the calmest water and the best stretch of empty sand.
Yes. Eagle Beach has free public access and free roadside and public parking behind the sand. There is no entrance fee. Beach bars, food trucks and palapa rentals along the back of the beach charge separately.
The two leaning divi-divi trees stand near the middle of Eagle Beach and are the most photographed spot on the island. Bent permanently by the constant trade winds, they frame the classic Aruba sunset photo. They are easy to find on a walk along the sand.
Yes. The water is calm, warm and shallow for a long way out, with a gentle sandy entry that suits children and swimmers of all levels. There are no full-time lifeguards, so keep an eye on younger swimmers, but conditions are generally easy and family friendly.
Eagle Beach is wider, more open and lined with low-rise hotels set back from the sand, giving it a calmer, more spacious feel. Palm Beach is the busy high-rise strip with resorts, watersports and beach bars right on the sand. Eagle is quieter and more scenic; Palm is livelier.
Mornings are calmest and least crowded for swimming, while late afternoon brings the famous sunset light around the divi-divi trees. Arrive early on busy days to find a good spot, since natural shade is limited. The water stays warm year-round.
